SHEFFIELD HILLSBOROUGH HAWKS v BRAMLEY
BUFFALOES
Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks will spend
2006 trying to break into LHF Leauge Three’s top four. They crashed out of the
play-offs in the first round last season and will be hoping to progress further
this year. The Buffaloes are likely to travel without Chris Gardner (ankle) but
Simon Bowker could make his first appearance of the season at hooker. Bramley
chairman Martyn Cheney said: “It’s the start of the new campaign and everyone is
ready to go. We want to win the competition this year and that’s what we’re
aiming for.” |

Upbeat Hemel Hempstead coach Troy Perkins
is looking for his second LHF League Three win in eight days. The Stags came out
36-13 winners against Dewsbury Celtic last week and Perkins said: “It’s been a
hard slog for the last three or four months, but it makes it worthwhile when you
reap the benefits. “Sheffield are traditionally a very physical side that base
their game around strong forward play and I’m expecting the same this year.
“It’s our first game at home, we should get a good crowd and I’m hoping our
performance will match that.” Hawks lost 48-18 at much-fancied Bramley
last week and will be desperate to record their first win of the season. |

St Albans
Centurions v Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks
St Albans are at full strength for the
visit of early-season strugglers Sheffield. Centurions’ chairman Tony
Bottomley said: “I’m not looking for an easy game at all. I saw Sheffield at
Hemel last week and while the score was quite high, in parts the Hawks
looked very good. “We can’t afford to be taking this LHF League Three clash
for granted.” Greg Lemon (ankle) and Nick Surtees should both return for St
Albans, while Sheffield make their second long trip in a week desperate to
change their fortunes. They have conceded 142 points in their first two LHF
League Three fixtures and will be looking for an improved defensive showing.

Bradford Dudley Hill v
Sheffield
Hillsborough Hawks
Bradford team manager Lee Collins is
hoping for an upturn in his side’s performances following the return of a
number of players. Dudley Hill’s only current injury problem is Jack
Bradbury (shoulder) and Collins said: “We had a weakened team at Hemel last
week and performed extremely well considering what was available to us.
“We’re expecting Sheffield to get stronger from this weekend onwards, too.
If they’re at full strength then they will be a very tough team to face.
“We’re looking to bounce back from a defeat at Hemel with a win this week
but we can’t take it for granted.” The Hawks are still without a win in this
season’s LHF League Three campaign.
