Birmingham relinquish National League Three status Birmingham Bulldogs RLFC have announced that they have relinquished their membership of National League Three with immediate effect. A combination of factors has caused the club great recent difficulty and the decision has been taken with great reluctance and regret.Club Secretary Russel Young commented: “We could possibly have carried on for the remainder of the season but we would have only been able to travel with an under strength side and not only would that be unfair on our opponents but would have caused long term damage to the club.“We have a number of promising new players who are not quite ready for this level of Rugby League and we will be continuing to play in the TotalRL.Com Rugby League Conference West Midlands Division in order to further progress their development.” “This move, while extremely disappointing, will give us the opportunity to re-group and come back as a stronger entity in due course, the region is still a very fertile ground for the sport.” Rugby League Services Manager Niel Wood, who has operational responsibility for the competition said, “We are aware of some specific problems surrounding Birmingham who have had a tough year. They have lost their Chairman through unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, their Head Coach has sustained a disruptive injury and outside employment issues have impacted negatively on their playing squad.“We are offering the club all the help and support we can, we have always stressed inclusivity rather than sanction and appreciate the efforts of the hard working committee there.” Birmingham Bulldogs previous results from this season have been expunged from the records.
