 Crofton 24 Hillsborough 18 .  ..5th November

What a set of posers !

This game was played as a 'friendly'. Sheffield fielded 9 players and Cougars played 11, Sheffield agreed to unlimited subs for Crofton. Sheffield approached their first game of the season in high spirits which they maintained throughout the game. In atttack there were powerful drives taken in by Marie Benson, Juliet and Sarah, with smart moves called by Marie Burns. Lorraine ran hard and strong with Fiona, for whom this was her first game ever today, showing some awesome strength in driving the ball in. Salina and Jane made some excellent kicks on fifth and for conversions. The Cougars gave Sheffield a good defense to break through which they did a couple of times to be brought down with good tackles from the Cougars. In defense Sheffield worked hard together to keep the line, but at times it was broken down by the Cougars putting in early kicks and running the ball down to score a try.
The game finished with both teams in good spirits and looking forward to meeting again later this month.

Team: Salina Wells, Jane Swire, Sarah Hewart, Tracy Haycox, Marie Burns, Lorraine Clark, Fiona Nield, Juliet Harrison, Marie Benson.

Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks Women 56. Brighouse Women 16 ....12th November

As the team walked out of the changing room and onto the pitch they were delighted to be greeted by players from the Junior Teams shouting "Come on Hillsbro". Thanks Lads.

Brighouse scored early in the first half monopolising on Sheffield being offside, but Sheffield quickly equalised following an excellent pass by Juliet to Sarah who scored on the right wing, this was successfully converted by Jane. We quickly saw some powerful running in from Mandy, whose first game ever it was today, but she was cleanly tackled by Brighouse inches from the try line. Tiggs was kept busy putting in the strong tackles and as with last week Fiona ran in hard and strong with the ball with Brighouse working hard to bring her to the ground. Effective drawing and passing between Marie and Salina claimed another try for Sheffield. Tactful kicking at Kick off saw Lara putting in a good chase with support from Hannah. Super sub Anne Marie offered constant support and encouragement from the line. Excellent team play was seen from both sides with the game played in good spirits.
